The El Cerrito Hills Townhouse

Along Rifle Range Road and Wildcat Canyon Park, hang a left onto Vista Heights Road,, and you'll come upon  807 Vista Heights.  One of a small compound of townhouses,  807 Vista Heights overlooks the Berkeley Country Club Golf Course.  Light streams in through its many windows, all with a view of nature -- from the outlooks of the canyon to the Golf Course on the other side.  Artistically renovated, it capitalizes on its natural setting.  Hardwood floors run throughout.  The open layout brings in light and nature throughout.  The living room with fireplace opens onto the dining room, which opens to a large entertainment deck -- with the Golf Course before you. Plenty of room for friends, family and barbecues.   Have a seat at the breakfast bar in the updated kitchen.  It's like having your own "catbird seat" onto nature.

Upstairs,  the large Primary Bedroom gives you your own private outlook as well as plenty of room for a desk and sitting area.   A second bedroom has its own view of the canyon and hills.  As an added plus,  the home has an extra large 2-car garage and laundry room for workshop  or other endeavors.

In addition to its own park-like setting, the complex has its own park -- with large swimming pool, tennis court and club house.  You're above the fray and close to nature.  Yet  only 6 minutes down the hill to civilization... Safeway, Home Depot. El Cerrito Cinema and tons of restaurants.   And for those with 4-legged friends, you're only 15 minutes to Point Isabel, said to be the largest, best dog park in the country.

The Neighborhood

Surrounded by tree-lined hills, views of SF Bay and located just a few miles from the shoreline, El Cerrito is a beautiful City.  Whether you love golf, hiking or other outdoor activities, El Cerrito has an option for  you.   Berkeley' s Country Club  has been a staple for over 100 years, and its beautiful 18-hole golf course provides breathtaking views of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge.  Bordering that is  Wildcat Canyon Park, a boon for hikers of all shapes and sizes , as well as the  Hillside Natural Area, with over 100 acres of open grasslands ... and a great place for you and your dog to enjoy.     There are quite a few other dog parks in El Cerrito  along the Ohlone Trail as well as the most famous of all... the Point Isabel Dog Park, said to be the largest and best in the nation.

El Cerrito was founded in 1906 by refugees of the SF Earthquake when it became known as " Rust" after its first postmaster.  When it was time to .  When it came time to incorporate in 1917, residents decided to change the name to El Cerrito, , which means "little hill."  Today,  it has grown into a highly educated city of 25,000, thanks to its proximity to UC Berkeley and the high tech economy.  The City has two BART stations, which provide fast access to SF and other part of the East Bay.  It's largely centered around El Cerrito Plaza, where one BART station is located, along with restaurants and stores, -- from Trader Joes, to Lucky's , Chase and Wells Fargo.  Tons of other restaurants line San Pablo Ave from that point on.   Along with the famous El Cerrito Cinema.   And down the street, Ace Hardware, one of the best hardware stores in the East Bay.

Simply put, El Cerrito is just one of those places you can be close to civilization ... and nature... at the same time.
